According to Redskins cap guru Robert Large, aka PC in OZ, Ladell Betts recently adjusted his contract in order to give the team a bit of breathing room in the wake of the acquisition of Miami defensive end Jason Taylor and his $8 million salary. Here’s the skinny from PC himself: Ladell Betts has agreed…

  2. The Zorn identity is emerging

When I was at the Washington Redskins training camp a couple of weeks ago, I noted that when the practice was over, Jim Zorn brought together the entire team in a massive, 80-man huddle. This has happened at the end of almost every practice I’ve seen. The huddle usually lasted 30 seconds, a minute tops.…

  4. Chris Horton a lock?

It probably would be inaccurate to say that Chris Horton is happy that fellow Washington Redskins safety Stuart Schweigert is now his former teammate. Pros, even rookies, don’t revel in players becoming unemployed, even ones that play the same position. However, although Horton isn’t doing a happy dance, it’s doubtful that he’s moping around the…

  6. Schweigert released

I saw that Stuart Schweigert didn’t look to good last night, but I thought he’d get some time to work out the kinks. I was wrong. Schweigert and Danny Verdun-Wheeler just were released. Pete Schmitt, who could be the fullback to be named later, and safety Patrick Ghee were signed.

  7. Marcus Mason

The second-year back, who spent all of last year on the Washington Redskins’ practice squad, looked good running the ball. He was decisive, quick to the hole, and he had a sneaky way of dodging through traffic to make the most out of each carry. He wound up with 98 yards on 18 carries. Mason…

  8. Malcolm Kelly out 2 weeks

Malcolm Kelly’s stiff knees were bothering him to the point where he and the team decided that something needed to be done. That something will be arthroscopic surgery on both knees to clean them out and he’ll be out for two weeks. When it was learned that he went to see Dr. James Andrews, the…

When Art Monk neared eligibility for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, I always said that I would go to Canton for his induction. Most years of the past seven, it would have been no problem for me to go. The stars all lined up, but there was no Art induction to go see. This…

Jim Zorn said on Friday that Jason Campbell will start at quarterback against the Colts and go for one series, maybe two. Todd Collins will finish the first half. We knew all of that. What Zorn said after that, though, was interesting. He said that the plan was to have Colt Brennan play the third…

Today’s Flashback Friday represents what was one of the few high points of the Steve Spurrier era. On October 27, 2002, Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts went into FedEx Field and absorbed a 26-21 defeat at the hands of Shane Matthews and the Washington Redskins. The halftime entertainment was almost as compelling as the…
