Do you believe in jinxes?

Edit: It’s being said that this is the first Redskins SI cover since Stephen Davis on 12.03.01. This looks more like a Chris Samuels cover to me:

Will Orakpo become a holdout?

With less than 24 hours remaining until the first practice the Washington Redskins have yet to sign their top draft pick, Brian Orakpo.
There has been no public negotiating which generally is a good sign. Michael Crabtree, the Texas Tech receiver taken at No. 10 is demanding top-three money, and that’s not sitting well with the [...]

Redskins will (again) say no to Vick

I wasn’t going to do it.
I wasn’t going to write anything on the subject of Michael Vick joining the Washington Redskins. But when dozens of tweets go out on the subject, when my Facebook post about my article about the offensive line generates a string of Vick comments, when a Google search for “redskins vick” [...]

53: Running back-fullback

Between now and the start of training camp I’ll be making my predictions about who will be on the final 53-man roster for the Washington Redskins–who’s there, who’s in, who’s on the bubble, and who’s out. The predicted roster will be revised and updated as preseason events warrant. Today, running backs and fullbacks:

Who’s here Now: [...]

Barnes deal is 4 years

According to Mike Florio at ProFootballTalk.com the contract that Kevin Barnes signed was for four years with a signing bonus just north of $780,000.
That makes it pretty much a garden variety deal for a third-round pick. And the only reason I’m posting it is because it gives me another opportunity to post the video of [...]

Barnes in the fold, 2 released

The Redskins have signed Kevin Barnes, their third-round pick in the draft. Terms were not disclosed.
Barnes will battle second-year player Just Tryon for playing time as the dime cornerback.
A player will have to be released to make room for Barnes. I will pass along word of that as soon as I hear it.
Update: Per @seandkennedy [...]

Zorn to let vets sleep at home

This story came out last week when I was knee deep in getting the book out, but I do want to address it. According to Jason LaCanfora, now of the NFL Network, Jim Zorn is going to let veteran players–those with four or more years of NFL service—spend the night at home during training [...]

Plenty of jobs available in Ashburn

In contrast to what we’re seeing in many businesses, the Washington Redskins will be hiring later this summer.
There is opportunity aplenty in Ashburn. Of the 53 players on the roster for the last game of the 2008 season, 13 of them will not be reporting to training camp on July 30. That means that the [...]
