  1. Flashback Friday—Skins top Manning, Colts

Comments Off on Flashback Friday—Skins top Manning, Colts

Today’s Flashback Friday represents what was one of the few high points of the Steve Spurrier era. On October 27, 2002, Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts went into FedEx Field and absorbed a 26-21 defeat at the hands of Shane Matthews and the Washington Redskins. The halftime entertainment was almost as compelling as the…

  2. Zorn on QB rotation

    Aug 1, 2008, 9:33 PM EDT

Jim Zorn said on Friday that Jason Campbell will start at quarterback against the Colts and go for one series, maybe two. Todd Collins will finish the first half. We knew all of that. What Zorn said after that, though, was interesting. He said that the plan was to have Colt Brennan play the third…

We know who’s out on Sunday night; let’s take a look at who’s in on defense: Defensive end Out: Jason Taylor, Chris Wilson, Erasmus James That leaves: Andre Carter, Demetric Evans, Kevin Huntley, Rob Jackson—Carter may or may not be in long enough to break a sweat. Look for a three-man rotation of the other…

If you go here and to a few other sites, you can read plenty about who isn’t going to play against the Colts on Sunday as the Washington Redskins open their five-game grind of a preseason schedule. What’s left for us to figure out, then, is who will play. Here’s a position by position breakdown…

  8. Rogers on the mend

Comments Off on Rogers on the mend

According to JLC and other sources, Carlos Rogers’ injured knee is mending well ahead of schedule and he could be ready for the start of the regular season. The concept of Rogers lining up in September seemed farfetched last October when he tore both the ACL and MCL in his right knee in the Washington…

    Comments Off on Six wide?

What was thought to be one of the higher-profile, higher stakes training camp battles may not ever happen. After the Washington Redskins drafted receivers Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly in the second round, it appeared that James Thrash and Anthony Mix were headed towards a showdown for the fifth and final WR roster spot behind…

Comments Off on The injury bug bites other teams, too

It’s getting to the point where many Washington Redskins fans are afraid to turn on Training Camp Daily on Comcast or click on JLC’s blog. They cringe at the prospect of finding out who got injured today. The Redskins do seem to have a extraordinary number of injuries. It started on the first day of…

I’ve gotten behind a bit, but since I’m not a slave to the 24-hour news cycle, here are some rapid-fire comments about some events over the past few days: Fan Appreciation Day a clusterbomb Go look up “debacle” in the dictionary and you’ll see a picture of traffic in a virtual standstill on the Loudon…

Comments Off on Montgomery out 10 days with broken hand

Defensive tackle Anthony Montgomery of the Washington Redskins broke a bone in his right hand during Saturday’s intrasquad scrimmage. Comments Off on Campbell catching on

The word I’ve been getting out of Redskins Park is that Jason Campbell has been struggling somewhat while trying to pick up Jim Zorn’s offense. That’s not what I saw today. Campbell was very sharp in the morning session. On swing passes, he hit backs in perfect stride. While he didn’t hit on every long…

Comments Off on The Z Man

When practice was over, Zorn gathered the team for a good 10 minutes or so. Instead of just giving the lunch and meeting schedule as I've always seen coaches do, he was using it as a teaching moment for the entire team. I'm sure that the players would rather be inside hearing all of that,…

    Comments Off on Sellers

If these practices are any indication–and they aren't always–Sellers will have a substantial role in this offense. He's been catching swing passes and running the quick hitter up the middle with regularity. —Sent via Empower HTML Mail Viewer For BlackBerryhttp://www.mobylo.com/emv/ Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile
