he’s been about a b- or c+. I think way to much was expected out of him to early. only 2nd season as starter. still a lot of people mad over rg3 being released and they are focusing anger on cousins. way to many people trying to make this about what it isnt, and that’s race. it’s not a black or white thing and grade isn’t racist

      *gruden isn’t a racist.

Kirk is a B; for an A, he needs to:

    1. reduce interceptions
    2. continue with better red zone play / audibles
    3. improve mobility (use it to avoid sacks or for significant gains if opponent is rushing 3 and drops 8 in coverage) and
    4. locate wide open WRs that have been available several times (i.e., blown coverage)

    I feel it’s a B-.

The first game was bad, but that was also a team-wide failure to be ready to challenge one of the top NFL playoff contenders.

I think we would have won the Cowboys game if Kirk had played decently, but he didn’t.

OTOH, he’s done enough good things the last two games to get us over the top, so that gets him back up to B-.

This week is a fine test. The Ravens aren’t as good as their 3-1 record suggests, and if we’re going to be back in the playoffs this year, this is just the kind of game we need to win. Kirk needs to rise to the occasion.

I think the Ravens’ defense has played very well and is one reason they are 3-1.

I agree that Kirk needs to play well, but of all phases of the game, it’s the defense that’s most in need of improving. For sure, the Redskins defense has done an excellent job of forcing turnovers at key stages in the last couple of games, but I don’t think we can count on that happening frequently.

If a C is average, then for the first 4 games Kirk is a C-, but improving.

Cousins biggest strength as a QB is his quick release. He also has decent accuracy in the short to mid game when he is in rhythm. His long ball is not great (like a lot of QBs, including Brady).

At times he doesn’t see the field well, or feel the pocket well in terms of when to move his feet, where to move his feet, and he makes boneheaded plays every other game it seems. He also has had very good pass blocking, and yet he looks panicked at times. Some of the anxiety issues could calm down with more success.

When the coaches call a balanced run game plan and a lot of 3 step drops first read quick release dink and dunk (like against Cleveland), thats when Cousins is at his best. The key is that the Steelers and others have played more drop 8 in short zones and sat on the dink and dunk throws, and Kirk struggled to stay alive and wait for his receivers to break open- he would just dump it off in panic mode. The Skins need a decent run game to punish teams and get them out of the rush 3 drop 8 defense, and Kirk needs to develop more patience when he does see that defense.

Looking at the schedule, though, its going to be tough on Kirk, because if they fall to 3-7 the pressure is going to get intense. I just have been thinking that they squeaked out a win at home against possibly the worst team in the league with a fumbled call by the refs and the Browns playing their 3rd string backup rookie QB.

Like the first half, a lot. TDs instead of FG’s.
Chill. Use your legs man. Step up in the pocket if you need to.
    Dont stare the receiver down.
    Dont make boneheaded decisions.
Interceptions are going to happen. Its just hard not to be critical when they take potential points off the scoreboard like a rezone pick, or give away points like throwing one when your backed up and giving the opposition a short field.

    B minus.

Kirk is barely a c. The defense getting turnovers last week saved the day. He was not there for 2 quarters and Jones finally started to run forward and lower his shoulders in the 4th quarter. Cousins had all the off season reps and has looked worse early this year compared to last year and Jackson is healthy, Crowder is looking great in his second year and with the others there should not be a timing issue at all.

Time after time he has missed or did not see open receivers, Taking sacks and taking points off the board is the most troubling of all. High School and College QB’s don’t do that No excuses on time management issues for him, Gruden , McVay or anybody else that is responsible for those situations either. === so barely a C Archives
