CSN: Redskins have fared well vs. rookie quarterbacks lately

Sep 14, 2016, 10:12 AM EDT

I’m sure you’re hearing about the Redskins poor record against rookie quarterbacks but that is largely the thing of the past. Tandler goes myth busting and pulls up the actual numbers on CSN.

The Cowboys are better than last year and we cannot take them lightly. My confidence in the Redskins coaching staff is a little bit shaken because I expected the team to play much better in the opener; not necessarily win but for the Redskins to be more in the game then they were.

Prescott is playing very well for a rookie; having Elliot, Morris and a very good offensive line helps.

“We” can take them as lightly as we want. We’re just fans. it only affects our expectations and therefore our degree of elation or disappointment. The Redskins won’t be taking them lightly either. Less than a year ago that team beat them at home.

Redskins have had a history of making sub par, run of the mill QB’s look like Brady. I do agree that he Cowpukes potential to run amok can only help their young QB. But come on, its the Copukes. Sack Dak!

If it wasn’t for Big Ben and Antonio, last week, being the all stars that they are – I would have already given up on this season.

Huge game for both teams. always rooting for the Skins!

I totally agree with those saying to lay off this first lose. The Steelers are a super bowl contender, have held our number for the past 25 seasons.

That Big Ben to Antonio Hook -Up could not have been more well-defended by Breeland. simply put, 99 out 100 simulations of that pass with that arc and that timing would always result in a touchdown. No matter if it was against Norman, Revis, Cromrtie, Darrell Green, Deon Sanders, Troy Polumolu…..

No one was stopping those two touchdowns.

    • snyderisanidiot - Sep 14, 2016 at 2:23 PM

There was a chance to stop it. Deangelo Hall was cheating up protecting the box and run on 4th down instead of hanging back and offering some over the top help to Breeland.
Hall should of been back there to break that pass up. He did not need to be way up like he was he could of played back another 5 yards or so.

Agree. Breeland could’ve done a few things better overall, but he played fairly well—those TD passes were things of beauty. Breeland needed and deserved more help from the safeties.

      • bangkokben - Sep 14, 2016 at 8:19 PM

Everyone around here — especially Breeland — thought before the game that Breeland was a very good cover corner. Therefore it makes perfect sense to leave him on an island. He had to rise up to the occasion. If not, we need to draft another corner next season. What? You want Hall playing deeper so that they go with the running play they had? Pick your poison. The Redskins pick theirs and lost. Had Breeland made a few plays the narrative of the game is completely different.

I agree snyder. That one was on Hall more than Bree. Hall got caught in no man’s land. But metal is 100% correct on the other TD. That pass & catch were about as good as it gets.

Skins need to win the next 3 to have any chance at all this season.

    Dallas new QB
NY new coach and 200 million defense
    Cleveland new everything

    • bangkokben - Sep 14, 2016 at 8:24 PM

Chance for what? Dallas could easily beat us and then not win another until Thanksgiving. New York could easily lose to New Orleans. One week at a time!

    • ajbus1 - Sep 15, 2016 at 12:03 AM

I think we beat Dallas and come out riding high, then drop a disappointing one to ny, then beat Cleveland. 2-2 heading to week 5.

Interview after game hall says he should bn back helping breeland on the td…..

After one game I’m not gonna worry bout offense just yet….too many weapons to not produce…..

Defense is a worry just like everyone thought it b……when your d-line gets credit for only 7 tackles out of 76 made that’s getting blown off the ball……people point fingers at offense and rightly so but defense had great chance with Kerrigan missing strip fum rec…allow pitt to convert 2-22 that lead to td….second half skins get game back to within 8pts and defense promptly allows pitt to march down field in 13 plays that takes bout 8 mins

In playoff game vs greenbay skins scored first poss second half to lead 18-17 the defense let’s gb drive dwn field immediately to regain lead

This is big game Sunday. ..lose your going to ny in wk3 0-2 in place we rarely play well….

    • ajbus1 - Sep 15, 2016 at 12:08 AM

Yup defense, especially d-line, is a problem.

Would it be wrong of me to not be mad, even a little happy if ALF scores?

    • ifthethunderdontgetya™³²®© - Sep 14, 2016 at 10:43 PM

Yes that would be wrong. You can hope he scores next week.

      • popefrady - Sep 15, 2016 at 10:08 PM

I’ve been die-hard for 33yrs, Alf _fit perfect with those gibbs 1.0 teams. All of those rbs except Kelvin Bryant, he fit right in.
