Skins by more than a TD.

Was anyone else shocked to see RG3 injure himself in a football game?

Keenan Robinson (NYG) about laid into AL-MO (Dal). Alfred looked like the veteran RB in Dallas, good solid, patient runs. Zeke looked like he was too excited. Dez Bryant with ONE catch, and next week will go against the Skins!!!

Tonight? MNF? Steelers haven’t lost a game against the Skins, in the past 25 years. Different teams, new players, new this and that and the other. We will see tonight. I am willing to be surprised by tonights outcome but boy-o-boy, do the steelers have our number or what?

Yeah it’s going to be a tough one. But it’s winnable. What’s concerning to me is the past history of these guys imploding in prime time. But, hopefully that playoff run helped get that out. If Washington plays to its ability then it should be a very good game. It would be a statement win and I want it, bad.

Yeah Trey, and Tomlin’s record of 10-2 on MNF doesn’t help either. As a life long fan (I’m 31 so I’ve missed all the glory years), it’s impossible to not be pessimistic. I think the game is winnable and like you said would certainly be a statement win. If the run game gets going I think Washington takes it in a high scoring affair. The problem is, I’m not sure if I see that happening. If Jones isn’t 100 %, I would love to see Kelley get ample opportunity tonight. I think the kid has flashed enough to at least deserve that chance. I guess we will see tonight. LET’S GO!!

I agree that they will need to get some sort of a run game going to have success. And I too think Kelley deserves his fair share of carries. Especially if Jones is not 100%. But if Jones is, let’s see what the guy can do. He has a very high ceiling if he can ever get there. I’m curious to see if he can run with a lower pad level and with his shoulders square to the line. He had a whole offseason to fix some of these rookie mistakes and he didn’t exactly prove that they were fixed in the preseason. But Im willing to reserve judgement for the regular season.

Streaks are destined to end. My vote is it ends tonight. I think we will win. I think this is a good matchup for us. BB & AB are their strength right now and our defensive strength is our pass defense. Our offensive strength is passing going against their defensive weakness of pass defense. Short passes and screens will be our best weapon with the occasional deep throw. I would love to get over 100 yards rushing but not sure that will happen. We need to pass to set up the run and run so they honor play action. I really believe we have improved on both sides of the ball and can get the W this week. Turnovers and special teams will loom large in this one.

    Redskins by 1-6, he homered.

I did the exact same thing. Not really sure how much I believed it. But I do believe we CAN win more so that we WILL win. So I’m not going to pick against my team. Ben is an elite QB with an elite receiver and a good run game even without Bell. However, Cousins played at an elite level for at least part of the season last year and Jordan Reed is and elite pass catching TE. Oh and then there DJax, Garcon, and Crowder. So, I have too much respect for Ben to say Cousins will outplay him. But, I do believe Cousins can use his weapons and beat the Steelers if he plays like he did in the last 10 games of 2016. Along with a little help from the defense and run game.

One of the things I will be watching most is how Moses performs. Pittsburg doesn’t exactly have an elite edge rusher so he if can’t hold up against their crew, it could be a long season. I was not impressed with Moses in the preseason but I’ve seen guys stumble in the pre season then do well before.

The pass is obviously our perceived strength but it’s going to be tough to take advantage of that if Cousins is under constant pressure. So protection starts with the O-line/TEs and then I’m looking to the run game. We don’t need a top 10 rushing attack. We just need to be respectable enough where the defense plays us honest.

The last thing I’m paying extra attention to is our lass rush. Not just Smith and Kerrigan but also how Baker, Murphy, Hood, Golston, RJF, and Reyes do. I believe this defense will struggle if we can’t get a constant pass rush. I hope Smith continues to develop into the guy we think he is and Kerrigan’s groin doesn’t give him any issues. But we need an interior rush too. I don’t believe Baker was a flash in the pan, but now he needs to prove it. And everyone else I named needs to prove McCloughan was right to believe in them. Even more so than the run game, if we generate a good pass rush then I believe we win this game.

He gets rid of the ball quick…will be OK. As I said below, the Steelers have allowed plenty of offenses big days over the past few years. Too many weapons. I also think Jones feels he has something to prove…a big catch and run for a score??

  5. redskinsreturntoglory - Sep 12, 2016 at 6:52 PM

I believe the Redskins start the Season right and WIN. Where I go back and forth is in why type of scoring game?
The Steelers have weapons, I wanted us to Draft Coats and I think he comes into his own so he helps offset some losses. The key is for our defense, to come up with some turnovers, Ben can throw a couple and they can be an equalizer for Browns production. Can the S cover deep and Breeland take the next step? Actually Phillips too. The Steelers will run, dump the ball off but I think this team will be better there this year. Its a passing League and the Steelers will throw35- 40 times.I think the DL will be enough with pressure coming from Smith and Kerrigan, with blitzes. That doesn’t mean Ben won’t have some good plays….hopefully just not too many. Id consider a 3-2 TD/INT ratio a win, prefer less.

On offense we can’t start slow but in game I think Jackson starts fast along with Reed so they should put up some points. The Steelers defense has let offenses have some big days recently, this team has too many weapons. If the OL plays decent they will be fine! 1-0….

This team really looked like they were ready to go. Glad we did not give to many reps to Cousins in the preseason. Archives
