The preseason is over, and the players have written their resumes. It’s time for Jay Gruden, Scot McCloughan and company to sit down and make the decisions. They have until Saturday at 4 p.m. to do so.

Many of the roster spots are set but there are enough jobs up for grabs to make the cut to 53 interesting. We got a hint of that earlier this week when veterans Stephen Paea and Perry Riley were let go.  One important thing to keep in mind is that Jay Gruden said last week that preseason games matter a lot when it comes to trimming the roster to 53. With two games in the books we have a lot of evidence to work with.

Redskins blogger Rich Tandler sorts out the bubble and gives you what he thinks the roster will look like when the make the final cut to 53.

Go here to see Tandler’s roster projection.

Rich, I like your roster selection except that I want Everett on it. I would prefer taking just 6 DL to get Everett on, but would be willing to consider other roster options too.

I agree that Everett should make the team and would leave Doctson on the PUP list as a way to add Everett.

With news that Lichtensteiger is taking a salary cut, but can make it back up with incentives, is a strong club move. I’m glad McCloughan is always thinking value…

    Dump Phillips Keep Everett

Phillips is probably going to be the starting slot corner.

Can you list the guys who are dropped by position? It would make it easier to see the choices being made.

At this point, some of the choices being made are cross-position evaluations. For instance, Paulsen is on the bubble, but he’s not really fighting for a spot versus Reed, Davis and Paul; it’s really Paulsen vs. a 3rd string QB, 4th string RB, 9th OL, 7th DL, 5th safety, etc.

As has been rumored for awhile, Bishop Sankey is available; I don’t know how Sankey compares to Brown.
