The Redskins wrapped up minicamp and Tandler was there to give you his observations from the last practice until training camp. Go to to check it out.

    Sounds good.

    Long time until training camp.

Is the fact that Moses and Scherff struggled against the defense a positive fact (the defensive line is showing definite improvement over last season), a cause for concern (the right side pair could have a “sophomore” slump) or still altogether other sign for fans?

So the defense is starting to show signs of life already, Special teams have targeted a few weak areas, and the offense is about where it should this time of year and no major injury reported from mini camp! There also seems to be a few guys who are pushing up the depth chart and no drama in the media. Other then Marshall not finding the field yet all the news seems to be good. So if the Redskins can stay healthy until training camp starts in late July and no one fails a drug test or ends up in jail the team should be in good order. So far so good! I like it.

The team seems to be holding out Doctson, Reed and Galette for precautionary reasons, which makes sense, but I would have liked to have seen more progress by Paea, Lauvao, Riley and Thompson. I hope I am wrong, but I have doubts as to whether these four will be able to be solid, regular contributors. The team is so deep at TE that I hope Carrier can take his time to fully rehabilitate from the ACL tear; no need to rush back.

I wonder if Marshall will be more healthy than Thompson. I’ve got a feeling Marshall will be a similar case — very talented but can’t stay healthy enough.

We will have to see if all the promising player showings continue once contact is allowed. The anecdotes seem to suggest that a good many of the promising players will not show as well once playing with and against the first team. Players like Spaight, Daniels and Cravens are expected to show well however. Hopefully Kelley will be equally productive. Archives
