CSN: Tandler, Tarik, and JP talk Redskins

May 12, 2016, 5:20 PM EDT

Tandler, Tarik El-Bashir and JP Finlay got together this afternoon on Facebook Live. If you have any questions we didn’t address, feel free to ask them in the comments here.

Honestly, I am not the biggest fan of this hour long Tarik, Tandler, JP thing. Its too long and the camera work and sound is poor for a professional place like CSN. With that being said, I did not even listen to any of this.

Thank you for the Marlo Furniture Redskins report. I look forward to your coverage of the rookie mini-camp.

My question is: Last season, the Redskins went 0-4 against teams with a winning record, with all losses between 2 and 4 touchdowns. What are your thoughts on how the team will do in these games this season and why? How much does the Redskins’ offensive and defensive line play factor into your assessment of their performance in these games (non contributing factor all the way to most significant contributing factor)?

PS – Champ Bailey was 12× Pro Bowl players (2000–2007, 2009–2012) including years 2-5 with the Redskins.

    • Rich Tandler - May 13, 2016 at 4:53 AM

Right, but with Bailey we were talking All-Pro, that’s a higher distinction that Pro Bowl.

As far as beating winning teams, they just have to get better. It’s no great mystery. It should be noted that all but the Packers game were on the road, and it’s a tall order to beat winning teams on the road.

For that reason, the home games against the Steelers and Panthers will be great gauges to see how the team has progressed.

It also should be noted that the Bills would have had a winning record if the Redskins hadn’t beaten them and the Eagles would have been 9-7 had the Redskins not swept them.

Thank you for answering my question.

I think Champ Bailey had some All-Pro designations in 2000 and 2003 with the Redskins and 2004-2007 and 2012 with the Broncos. Shawn Springs had an All-Pro designation with the Redskins in 2004.

        • Rich Tandler - May 13, 2016 at 8:45 AM

There are tons of such designations but in terms of AP First Team All-Pro, which is what Norman was last year, the Redskins have not had one since punter Matt Turn in 1996.

I don’t understand why Csnmidatlantic don’t cover redskins rookie mini camp for atleast a hour on they channel seems like the others do cause to see what jay gruden says or with the players said I gotta turn to nflnetwork to get a second snip of what jay gruden said csnmidatlactic should know the national media don’t like the redskins…hope you guys can find away in the future…I bet everybody would love to see y’all debate a lil bit over the redskins on what gonna happen

    • Rich Tandler - May 13, 2016 at 4:51 AM

We don’t have the rights to telecast any of it from the field. I think we will stream Gruden’s presser online. Two other digital reporters and I will be there to cover it. Saturday is the day we have access.

      • Mr.moneylover - May 13, 2016 at 8:28 AM

Ohh OK…I still think it will be a great idea of the three of y’all to have a show and debate about the redskins and other NFL news I think it will be the coolest show on csnmidatlantic channel next to redskins nation…I love the access Larry Michael give us when training camp comes around so I know if rich, tarik,or JP Finley or grant Paulsen have a show it will get a lot of rating you guys can really in depth on what kinda talent is on the team ….

        • Rich Tandler - May 13, 2016 at 8:49 AM

We’ll be doing a lot of that on Facebook Live.

We’ve kicked around the idea of a Redskins roundtable type of show but it’s a monumental effort to get someone on the TV station. It may happen some day.

        • Mr.moneylover - May 13, 2016 at 11:02 AM

Well y’all got my vote…if it comes down to voting…I think the more access you give fans the better the rating will be…I think y’all should have a morning show so you guys can at least cover they morning walk thru…redskins nation do it but its not in real time its recorded… I think the title of y’all show is holding y’all show back from bein on TV because I don’t know who wouldn’t want y’all on TV giving facts on what the redskins are doing…I think that’s why the national media bash us because they really don’t know what’s going on with the team…national media be like oh they signed josh Norman so its the same old redskins but they can’t tell whats the difference between this signing and the haynesworth signing and by y’all show bein on TV and getting interviews from players could actually help the team get more national credit right now all they got is redskins nation I like Larry Michael the redskins nation show but its been the same way for years and he had questions awhile back that fans wanted more access to the practice field he did a better job the following year but last year it was just snips of clips from there…I here the practices be exciting why give the fans at home that access I think it will be coolest thing on TV…I think you guys can pull it off if you guys talk to the right ppl…if Brian Mitchell can get his own show I’m pretty sure y’all can

  4. Mr.moneylover - May 12, 2016 at 10:30 PM

Atlanta And the bucs held a news conference on they local network and had guys like y’all answering questions why post a video…I don’t think they gonna cover rookie mini camp on NFL network I think they did that last week because of EZ.E first practice in Dallas …see if you guys gonna hold a special that will be a easier way to get alot of questions

    • ifthethunderdontgetya™³²®© - May 12, 2016 at 11:44 PM

I don’t think reporters have any access until Saturday to the Redskins mini camp.

  5. redskins12thman - May 13, 2016 at 3:24 AM

I have another question regarding offseason process. The Redskins recently signed two CFAs — Tevin Carter and Joe Gore — and then days later, even before the rookie mini-camp commences, these players are released. Why do these situations occur with such frequency?

    • Mr.moneylover - May 13, 2016 at 8:40 AM

Scot m. Say you can tell if a player got it or don’t it sometimes it takes a little long to find out and sometimes you can find out within seconds and they can also be targeting another college free agent one thing about the redskins they keep tryna make they roster as strong as possible before training camp they have some guys coming in for tryouts and you never know they probably got they eyes on some players…QB Vernon Adams is a beast he might be 5-11 but is accurate with the football and is smart you know you gotta be good if you 5-11 and redskins still want you to come in for tryouts when he’s not the kinda QB jay gruden like… But Vernon Adams also showed he can stand in the pocket and deliver darts
