CSN: How can the Redskins pay for a potential Norman contract?

Apr 22, 2016, 11:03 AM EDT

The Redskins have $11.6 million in cap space and the guy they are talking to today wants $15 million per year. How would that work? Tandler looks at some of the Redskins’ options

Were Norman a shut down corner like Reeves, I could see spending the big bucks. Norman is in a deep/trip zone like Carolina plays. Beckham exposed the guy last year and would have made Norman look worse, had he not dropped some of those balls.

Another question? What happens when he comes in, gets $15 muh million and Breeland outplays him. How do you make both happy? Would Norman take a paypay cut? In any case, the secondary will still be a sivve until the front 7 provides a consistent pass rush.

If its that important a position of need, draft a corner.

Joe Barry had the corners in his scheme play mostly zone and not much man to man. Also Beckham exposed nothing he had 6 catches for 76 yards and 1 TD in a game the Gisnts were down big and throwing the entire 4th quarter.

I’m a Skins fan, so if it happens (and I guess it will), I’ll put aside the misgivings and be 100% for it.

This is why they did not lock Jordan Reid down with a big extension. Cause they had to make room for Josh Norman!! Hail yeah!

What number does he get? Does Duke have a steep price for #24?

50 Million in fully guaranteed money. Making Josh Norman the highest paid CB in the NFL.

I’m still waiting for the official figures. However, 50 million is too much for a player that is more likely to have 3 primes years left at his position and not 5. I love having him on the team but that is too much guaranteed money for Norman. This could make extending contract to players like Reed, Galette, or Cousins very difficult to achieve. When you are looking down the road in a few years, it has to be asked what players would you most want in a few years?

Its risky, its a lot of money. I have a feeling Norman will earn his money though. We will see.

I was thinking to that to be successful in the playoffs and ultimately win a superbowl it takes having a couple star players on the team. Josh Norman will come in handy in the playoffs and has the potential to be clutch during the big moments. I am looking forward to what the star corner back can do with a Skins jersey on.

The next move is to draft a high caliber safety first and then were are talking about tightening up that secondary. Breeland, Norman, and a draft pick safety. Hail yeah! Cant wait for next season.

This has Snyder’s fingerprints all over it – not good on any level.

Look, I think Norman’s pretty good, but not for that much money over that many years. This will handicap the Skins in terms of cap flexibility next year.

Now it’s time to beef up the DLine. We have to stop the run, and continue to build the pass rush. Archives
