Norman is a cover 3 corner. A very good one, but still.

When you hear guys referred to as “shutdown corners,” like the players White mentioned, they almost always play in defenses favoring man coverage over zone. The Panthers played some man, and Norman wasn’t nearly as effective on those downs. Those were the plays when he was burnt by the top receivers. Norman’s number may paint him as a shutdown corner, but he is not in that class.

As Hopkins puts it, Norman is a very good Cover 3 corner. He reads routes well, which allows him to jump passes and produce interceptions. But teams can find corners who thrive in zone coverage anywhere. It’s the man corners who are worth the premium Norman was likely looking for.

So I can’t help but be worried. Albert Haynesworth, etc., left a lot of mental scars.

Wouldn’t be a TERRIBLE idea if he can provide production. Saw in another post that he had played in only 22 games 7 career INT’s, like that’s the only stat he should be judged by. He had near double digit pass defended every year he didn’t miss significant time. Only takes a few near picks to have QBs start throwin the other way. Not to mention he showed improvement in every year. I’m not saying he’s the best but he is at least on the fringe of being one of those elite lock down CBs. A welcome improvement over our 13 DBs meaning we don’t have 1.

Norman would be an upgrade to our secondary. Anyone that says different is blowing smoke up your a-ss
I would take Norman in a split second if the price is right. He is not worth overpaying but he would be a welcome addition to the defense for sure. We had a wide reciever playing CB last year covering OBJ
    We need Norman.

“I dont give a sh|t about the numbers of the contract. Norman is a baller. Lets go Norman!! Norman!!! Norman!!!!”

“I would take Norman in a split second if the price is right.”

These are not the same, goback2rfk.

I am sorry. I heard the grotesque numbers he was asking for and I changed my mind on his price. I don’t think he is really worth what he is asking. Although I would love to see him in a Redskins uniform. Lets GO NORMAN!

Yea I agree with you goba. I dont think its good to tie up our cap in conerbacks, being we just signed one to a huge contract last season as well. Probably means we lose out on not only both Pierre and D Jax next offseason, but Breeland as well when his time comes up. There is a cap, as well all know from prior bad signings, and this money will have to come from somewhere.

I would prefer going corner with our number one pick. Either there or with the second rounder, and D line with the first. We need to try and keep our own players, and Breeland is coming up soon. I want to make sure we keep guys like him as Redskins. Norman is very good, and we play a lot of zone which is what he’s good at. But we shouldnt be breaking the bank for anyone. Us of all teams should know better. Archives
