Here is what you need to know on this Saturday, March 29, nine days before the Redskins start their offseason workouts.

Here are five top trending names on Redskins Talk this week:

Jay Gruden—The Redskins new head coach didn’t have any earth-shattering news to reveal but he dropped a number of interesting tidbits during his one-hour meeting with the media during the NFL owners meetings in Orlando.

Phillip Thomas—Brue Allen said last week that the second-year safety would have been a starter last year if he had not suffered a season-ending injury early in the offseason. If he can start—and we’re a long way from knowing if he can or not—a major hole in the defense would be filled.

Tracy Porter—He signed on the line with the Redskins and we started trying to figure out what his role might be. Porter is a former second-round pick of the Saints and he’s going to be wearing his fourth different team in four years.

Brian Orakpo—Although we really didn’t think of him as one, he technically was a free agent until Thursday morning, when he signed his franchise tag tender. For him, that means that his $11.45 million salary for 2014 is guaranteed. For the Redskins, that means that he can participate when offseason workouts start on April 7.

Robert Griffin III—Of course, Gruden was questioned extensively about Griffin and how things are going so far. Gruden said that his only concern is that Griffin won’t leave Redskins Park and he doesn’t want the QB to burn himself out. While Gruden was speaking, Griffin and a group of backs and receivers were in Arizona for a passing camp set up by the QB.

The 90 man roster now stands at about 70 guys, I am guessing the Redskins will draft 2DB’s, 1WR, 1OL,1DL,1LB, that makes about 76 guys. They will still need to sign 2QB’s, 2RB, 2OL’s, 2TE’s, 2DB’s, 2DL’s, 2LB’s before training Camp starts. Rich: of the about 14 guys the Redskins still need to sign, will they be mostly Undrafted Free Agents due to deep draft, mostly Vet’s who will sign cheap and return Cap Money if they make the team, or a 50/50 split? I am guessing mostly Undrafted Free Agents with hopes of finding guys for the Practice Squad who might develop into back ups or Special Team replacements.

Pro football talk just posted article claiming Desean is scheduled for first visit in DC on Monday! Sure we could use a dynamic deep threat not to mention returner , but so much for all that team of integrity talk. Archives
