Zorn still bristles over play calling

This is video of Jim Zorn’s press conference from Friday. At about the 1:30 mark the subject of play calling comes up and it’s obvious that Zorn has yet to fully accept the play calling arrangement that was “strongly suggested” to him a few weeks ago.

On the one hand, I think the man is doing to very best that he can in a job that he’s not up to. On the other hand, I’ll bet he’s counting the days until he’s out of there (58 as of today).

  3. thing is = he will never get a job as a head coach or offensive coordinator at the pro level again

he can bristle all he wants, it’s about the only balls he’s shown all year

Couldn’t agree more with your assessment of Zorn. Its a shame all the way around, really. I hate to see someone who appears to be a genuinely good, honorable person be put through something like this. It hasn’t been like this in the past when coaches struggled here( of course in many ways it hasn’t EVER been like this for a coach anywhere). Gibbs was, well, Gibbs- a man whose faith and character always carried him through. Norv was always too bemused and dumbstruck to ever really leave much of an impression as a person. It was hard to pity him even when he deserved it. Marty was like watching a general doing a post assault press conference from Desert Storm or something–supremely confident in his ability but not really invested in the hopes and fears of the locals. The ‘Ol Ball Coach was just so obviously full of himself that it was impossible to feel sorry for him. Like I said, its a shame. I hate to see a good man dragged down and there are a lot of good men and good football players being dragged down by the Redskins Organization right now.

I was going to ask what you saw in that section of the film that made you think Zorn was still stinging… and then I saw it. “I haven’t asked him.” Ouch. The dancing around about the two-minute drill was painful too. The play you get with the two Sherms also makes it all a little harder to pin down, which is fun.

Yeah, Zorn deserves another shot at being an OC, preferably somewhere where there’s a roster that’s WC ready. I keep reminding myself that Zorn never, NEVER asked to be head coach of the team. That was Vinny’s idea.
