Rick Snider has unearthed who is on top of Dan Snyder’s wish list for a new coach. And it isn’t who everyone thinks it is. And the interest may be mutual.

Snyder’s idea is great. Bring a new coach in only if he doesn’t want to get involved in major personnel decisions because Vinny and Dan have a great track record there and need no help.

i’m not saying that any of this information is not true, but if we beat K.C. this sunday, will things change? Is Snyder’s mind set no matter what happens?
i can’t believe we’re going through this again.

  3. Dan says:

I love these ‘frontrunner’ columns. Need I remind you that Jim Fassel was pegged as the frontrunner right before Jim Zorn was hired? Call it a distraction, but I don’t think that Snyder’s plan was in Denver for it’s Rocky Mountain Oysters. With that being said, Gruden would be a terrible hire for this franchise. Not only would he be taking over a mediocre team (unlike tony dungy’s team in TB), to me he is not a proven head coach based on where the Redskins currently reside.

The Washington Redskins simply lack the talent and coaching to exceed fan expectation. Lack talent you say? Yes. Let’s not compare the Redskins to the NFL, let’s just examine our division.

    1) NFC East QB Ranking : McNabb, Manning, Romo, Campbell
    2) Offensive Line Ranking: NY, Eagles, Dallas, Redskins
    3) Offensive Coordinator: Reid, Gilbride, Garret, Zorn
    4) Running Backs : Westbrook, Barber, Jacobs, Portis
    5) Wide Receiver Corps : NY, Eagles, Cowboys, Redskins

In comparison to only the NFC east, exactly where is the talent for the Washington Redskins? Every member of this franchise needs to be put on notice and everyone fights for a job in the 2010 season. Who knows how to build a franchise and will not be shy in gutting overpaid athletes who don’t produce on the field : Mike Shannahan.

I like Gruden but if Vinny and Dan keep making horrible decisions with player personnel, the outcome will be the same. Look at the successful teams in the NFL, they all have good GMs. Redskins need to hire a true GM.

    I miss Jack Kent Cooke!!

  5. Joe in Raleigh says:

    JKC hired Norv Turner.
