Samuels out vs. KC; OL to be shuffled

Chris Samuels

Chris Samuels will miss at least one game

Chris Samuels will miss next week’s game against Kansas City with the stinger he sustained early in Sunday’s game in Carolina.

This will trigger a shuffling of the offensive line. Stephon Heyer will move from right tackle to left tackle and Mike Williams will go to Heyer’s spot at RT. Jim Zorn did not say who will start at right guard; look for another week long competition between Chad Rinehart and Will Montgomery.

Samuels may be out for longer than this coming week. The injury involves the spine making it very difficult to project how much time he will miss.

Although Heyer is a natural left tackle, it’s hard to imagine that he’s much of an upgrade over D’Anthony Batiste, who filled in for Samuels yesterday. Heyer’s struggles on the right side do not bode well for a solid performance while protecting Jason Campbell’s blind side.

Heyer at left tackle?? You’ve got to be kidding. Campbell is going to get killed.
