14:56—We have a new press box announcer and it seems that the PR staff is making a great effort to get the information that is spoken over the PA correct. That has been a challenge in the seven-plus seasons I’ve been sitting here and probably beyond that.

13:24—A great WCO-style pass from Campbell to Portis. It was a short dart that hit the target in stride for a first down.

11:49—I guess you have to be a tough sucker to survive if you’re the size of Santana Moss. He just got knocked and tossed around like a rag doll and bounced right up after picking up 10 and a first down.

9:08—The Redskins are in all-white today and the Cardinals have those red jerseys. I thought that the Saints’ black shirts had something to do with them fading in the fourth quarter last week, maybe we’ll see the same effect here.

8:28—Nice opening drive. 11 plays, 62 yards, 6:32

Portis 3 run (Suisham kick)
Redskins 7, Cardinals

8:28—Five different Redskins caught passes on that drive—Moss, Portis, Cooley, Randle El and Yoder. Excellent distribution, a sign of a maturing QB who isn’t locking in on one receiver.

8:20—On the replay, I noticed that Samuels didn’t drive block on that TD run. He set up as if to pass block, apparently knowing that the DE was going to take an outside route. He did and Portis had a nice opening with the OT at the point of attack barely doing anything besides get in the way.

6:36—The Cardinals are on the move on the ground with Edge tearing off about five yards a pop.

4:27—The Cards are going on fourth and one from the Skins 40. Delay of game torpedoes that idea (which probably was the plan all along).

3:39—Moss was back to receive that punt, which went for a touchback. The thinking was that Santana would just return from around midfield, but apparently ARE has been yanked from the role.

1:39—Offsetting PI calls, something you rarely see, called on a deep sideline pass to Thomas. I think it was a copout by the Zebras.

1:28—Stephon Heyer is down on the field. It’s a little puzzling since he’s way off on the numbers on the right and the play went to the left. He was helped up but made it off the field OK. Jansen is in at RT.

1:04—Heyer headed into the locker room, he’s walking without a limp under his own power.

0:12—The drive died after the sack for a loss of 12. Still, they moved the ball and flipped field position.

0:12—Durant Brooks to punt. Short but high and a fair catch. 35 yards on the punt. Not great, but not fatal.

0:00—Redskins get the ball back after a fumble. First down at around the 35 of Arizona.
